Wet Mountain Valley · Sangre de Cristo Mountains
discoverMountains, dark skies, local flavor and a little unexpected fun, all just down the road from your private luxury log home.
Welcome to the valley
Set beneath the dramatic Sangre de Cristo Mountains, Westcliffe and the Wet Mountain Valley offer hiking, horseback riding, fishing, galleries, local restaurants, live entertainment, western traditions and some of the darkest night skies in Colorado.
Spend the morning on the Rainbow Trail, wander Main Street in the afternoon, enjoy dinner and a cocktail in town, and finish the evening beneath a sky filled with stars.
From A Creek Runs Through It, our luxury log cabin rental in Westcliffe, you can make your stay as adventurous or as wonderfully relaxed as you like.
Trails, tables, starlight and the open road
Hiking & Outdoor Adventures
Westcliffe sits beside one of Colorado's most dramatic mountain ranges. The Rainbow Trail stretches more than 100 miles along the eastern side of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, through forests and mountain meadows, and our guests can reach it on foot right from the neighborhood.
Weather changes quickly at elevation. Start longer hikes early and bring water and layers.

Restaurants & Dining
Westcliffe may be a small mountain town, but its dining scene has plenty of personality, from wood-fired meals and locally roasted coffee to craft cocktails and a tiki lounge you will not believe is in Colorado.
Stargazing & Dark Skies
In 2015, Westcliffe and Silver Cliff became Colorado's first International Dark Sky Community, and at just under 8,000 feet they are among the highest in the world. On a clear night the Milky Way stretches from the Sangres to the Wet Mountains.

Scenic Drives & Attractions
Some of the region's best scenery lies along the Frontier Pathways Scenic and Historic Byway, which connects mountain valleys and forests and pairs beautifully with a day of exploring.

Horseback Riding & Guest Ranches
Ranching has shaped the Wet Mountain Valley for generations, and there is no better way to see it than from the saddle: open meadows, aspen groves and the Sangre de Cristos rising above you.
Summer rides book up quickly, so reserve ahead.
